What makes VFW Post 76 interesting, is that they help all United States war heroes. If you fought for this country, you are supported here. Also, donors are treated as partners and everyone cares about the community. According to the members, this home is also said to be haunted. They have said that a young girl runs up and down the stairs, along with a man who likes move furniture,both go by the name of 'Charley'.
VFW Post 76 was issued a charter on June 26, 1917. The organizers of this post were from the Spanish American War. The veterans of this era would meet at the Spanish Mansion until 1946. It was during that year, when the Victorian-style mansion, which consisted of 17 rooms, 5 fireplaces, and 2 kitchens, was leased and then purchased. This is where war troops from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, and Iraq can receive the most support.
