Buckhorn Saloon and Museum in San Antonio, TX

The museum holds more than 520 species of wildlife throughout their exhibits. The most prized possession is the famous '78 Point Buck,' sold to Albert Friedrich, the owner of the saloon, for just $100 in 1890. Other incredible displays include a 1,056 pound black marlin and a 10,000 year old pre-historic Irish elk. The museum holds strange animals that have been collected over the past century.

Before the museum, there was just the saloon, opened by 17 year old Albert Friedrich. Inside the saloon, Teddy Roosevelt recruited Rough Riders, and Pancho Villa, allegedly, planned the Mexican Revolution. The saloon, today, is still decorated with many of the original decor, like the back-bar, hand-crafted out of marble and cherrywood.

When Friedrich first opened his saloon, he realized that many of his visitors did not have the money to spend. He then had the idea to accept horns and antlers in exchange for alcohol, starting a chain effect that led to his collection being recognized as one of the world's most unique array of horns and antlers.
